2020! Let's Go!

Are you ready to have an epic year in 2020? Me too! A few years ago I decided that I didn't want to make resolutions I wanted to pick a word. At the end of the year, I take some time to reflect on the past 12 months. 2019 was a tough season for us. My husband started a new job that requires him to travel a lot more. We moved to a new house in a new town, the kids started at a new school and I had to relaunch my business in a new town. We had a lot of moving parts and were going in a lot of different directions. I am proud of how we weathered that season but 2020 is a new season and I am ready to kick it to the next level. Are you ready too? Here is what I suggest to help you pick a word for 2020.

1. Make a list of all of your accomplishments for 2019. They don't have to be big, you could write that you consistently drank water or that you remembered to take the garbage out each week. Or maybe there were some big ones like you got a promotion or bought a new house. It is so important to focus on the amazing things you did rather than what you didn't.

2. As you look through your list are there areas that you want to change. Is there something that you see needs some more of your attention? Try not to make a list of "should haves" but rather a list of "what ifs"...what if I commit to personal growth? what if I commit to my budget? This can help you look forward and start to think about what word would help you in your pursuit of the what-ifs!

3.Brainstorm words that have meaning to you and where you are ready to go in 2020. Maybe your word will come to you quickly and maybe you will need to let the idea of a word sit with you for a while. Either way, once you have your word find a way to have a visual of it everywhere, maybe as a screen saver, or written on your bathroom mirror. Tell your partner about it so that they can help you stay committed too.

This year my word is Consistency. I want to be more consistent with how I am planning and organizing our family time. I want to be more consistent with how I plan and use my time when I am working. I want to be more consistent with my water drinking and working out. I want to be more consistent with my meditation and my daily reading. I know that that is something I need and we need as a family. I will help us have a good foundation and a strong family.

What is your word? I would love for you to share it with me! Post it on Social media and tag me in it @mountainmamawellness.
